Zoo Dinner

Wine and beer flowed freely, the volume got louder and louder and having discussions became more and more challenging - so yes, it was a terrific time.  There were these great appies that went about on trays - prawns with pernod butter sauce, something that they called 'chicken nuggets' that were not anything like what the Golden Arches offers ...

Here's our posh table setting - each of us with our own little kangaroo or koala.

Current president of the Rotary Club of Sydney (they were the hosts of the event), sporting his scarf just received from a Russian Rotarian as well as the 'chain' of office of his Rotary Club.  Each club president has their name engraved on a little metal plate and sewn to the thing.  The fellow on the right, James Allen, is the club's immeiate past presdient.  He and his wife Belinda sat at our table.  Their daughter is just completing a PhD from U of A (as in Alberta) in a biotechnical field.  The Allens have visited Alberta, including Camrose, in the past.

Edwin from Taiwan sharing his enthusiasm with Andrea and Alice from St. John's, Newfoundland!

Alice with my Kangaroo ... and then ...
You knew it just had to happen.

The absolute best frozen dessert that I've had in a very long time - and pretty, too!

Kangaroo approved ...

Good conversation, music provided by the Reel Matildas (and a full sing-a-long of Waltzing Matilda, of course).  The [http://www.prideaux-e.com/australiana/reel_matilda.htm ] music sounds so east coast Canadian that the Newfies were very much at home.

We set a new record for going to bed late ... Aussie record for us, that is.

  1. Meanwhile back in Camrose, the trees are in bloom + pollen + fluff and the city is about to sweep our street..... What excitement.
I wonder if I should get a quote to have a chain made similar to the Pres. of the RC of Sydney wears, for all the past RCCD Presidents.?? Perhaps not.
Sounds like a great Dinner and as always interesting people.
Thank you for all of this Anna and Destiny, I am really enjoying Sydney!
